Visit places by hiking trails

Andros has an extensive network of trails which are marked and maintained by the Andros Routes initiative. Following we suggest hiking routes to combine hiking with the history of the island.

Suggested routes:

3b, Epano Kastro: Visit to Epano Kastro, the strongest and largest medieval state of Andros.

9a, Paleopolis (circular): Visit to the archaeological site of Paleopolis, the capital of the island for over a millennium.

14, Watermills of Frousaion – Gavrio: Visit to the ruins of watermills along the stream in Frousaion with the chain water supply system.

15, Gavrio – Agios Petros Beach: Visit to the Tower of Agios Petros, an ancient tower from the Hellenistic period.

In case you are interested in an organized hike you can participate in the open to the public hikes organized by Andros Routes on the island and the Andros on Foot Festival that is organized every year on the island.
