Activities for the restoration of the alluvial alder forest will involve:
- Isolation of Ectomycorrhizal strains belonging to Paxillus, Naucoria and other fungal genera from fruit-bodies and/or colonized alder root-tips from different locations, establishment of cultures at Andros nursery, their mixture with the plant-growth substrate and seeding of alder seeds.
- Improvement of the regeneration potential of alder in conjunction with planting of new saplings of local origin
- Planting of certain keystone habitat species
NOTE: The saplings will be produced in the nursery of the established by the project Botanical Garden (Agadaki Estate).
